You may or may not have heard about ePrint, but there are some very useful advances and I’ll go over what exactly they are. Find out more below.
Well to start with for those of you who don’t know I’ll give a concise summary of what ePrint is, what it allows and why it may or may not be what you’re looking for. It’s a system of printing designed by HP whereby specific enabled printers are assigned an email address. These printers are also connected to the internet via a wireless access point such as you’ll find in most businesses and homes. You can send an email to the printer’s specific email address with an attachment containing what you want printed out. As long as you are both connected to the internet at some part of the world then there are no problems. This is contrary to most other stationary wireless printers which require both devices to be connected to the same wireless network.
So clearly there are several useful advantages to this type of system. To start with I’d say that many but not all of these are related to business or work related matters.
If you wanted to grab a physical copy of your favour paper or blog then you could just forward that to one of the many ePrint points and pick it up on the way to work. You can schedule prints at certain days and at certain times of the day for your convenience.
If you don’t have enough time to print something of at home because you’re running late for a meeting then you can simply quickly email what you need printing to work. Then it’s simply a matter of walking in, collecting what you printed, and then going into that meeting right on time.
A lot of office workers have designated printer codes which limits them to only certain printers within a wired network. But with wireless printing you wouldn’t have to wait for other people and potentially waste time because you’d be able to print everything out somewhere else.
It doesn’t matter where you are relative to the HP ePrint printer, because as long as you’re both connected to the internet you can email exactly what you need printing – when you need it.
If you needed to send a friend or work colleague a copy of work to their house, you can do that – which has great implications for bosses who can just send over the work with a sheet of instructions on the top. There’s now no need to send the file and print it of yourself which just wastes time, everything is handled by the printer to reduce time being spent in areas where it’s unnecessary – and considering how much we utilize gadgets in our daily life to make things easier it’s about time this category of technology kept up.
